MY TESTIMONY

Dennis Parham

Born May 7, 1967
Goldsboro, NC

I grew up as a military brat; as a result I lived in many places in the US as well as abroad. My parents always told me I was a Protestant. This was why I said “God is great, God is good let us thank Him for our food.” before each meal. When I was in high school in Guam, I met some missionaries from California. This was the first time I remember ever hearing about a relationship with Jesus. There was a lot of seed planting done during the 6 months I was around them, but I never did give my life up to God.

After school I joined the military. I was stationed in New Mexico for 6 years (and I thought I joined to travel!!) where I met the most beautiful woman in the world; her name is Tracy, and I was blessed to marry her. We soon were stationed in Iceland where we had our first child (Tracy actually had our child, but I was there to catch).

I separated from the military and Tracy and I had our second child (again, she had the child, but I was still there to catch). With the blessing of my wife and two beautiful little girls, Tracy and I began to realize that there was something BIG missing in our lives. Tracy was told about Jesus and soon began devouring the scripture from a bible that was given to her. I was totally not going to fall for any of that stuff! Praise God for Tracy’s faithful prayers.

About a year after she was saved, Tracy went on a trip to Oregon to see her father. I was bored and began reading the book of revelation, really in retaliation to disprove all the stuff I had been hearing. I became fascinated by what I was reading, and began to read more and more. I flew out to Oregon to be with Tracy and our daughters for the week. While we were there, we went to this really cool church (you can check it out at www.applegatefellowship.com). The church has a beautiful out-door amphitheater, and awesome bible teaching. My heart became softened and I began to weep as Pastor Jon offered to pray with us if we wanted a relationship with the God that loved us enough to die for us, then he stepped into a beautiful pool. Tracy was in total shock when I grabbed her hand and asked if she would walk down there with me.

What a thrill it was to receive Jesus as my personal Savior and be baptized. It has been a total thrill walking with the Lord ever since.

Grace and Peace from our Lord Jesus,
Dennis
